Credentials

Drawn to yoga by its meditative benefits, Shannon began her studies in yoga in her freshman year of college. It wasn’t until 2006, however, that she began to delve into her practice. Soon thereafter, she craved more knowledge and wanted to go deeper. After a home practice one day, she noticed how her infant son was drawn to yoga as well. This led her to children’s yoga and thus began her journey with the Radiant Child Family Yoga program. Shannon completed her 200 Hour certificate with studies on yoga for the entire family. This included infants to seniors with further training on yoga for children with ADD, ADHD, Autism, SPD, and other differently-abled children. Shannon also completed leadership training in Y12SR with Nikki Myers and is a space holder and yoga instructor for the 12 step recovery process. She began her Yoga Therapy training through the Phoenix Rising program, and finished with The Holistic Yoga Therapy Institute out of Charlotte, NC. Now a Certified Yoga Therapist, recognized by The International Association of Yoga Therapy (C-IAYT).  Shannon enjoys teaching children about yoga in various schools, studios, gyms and more. In the summer of 2013, Shannon completed her pre and post natal yoga teacher training with Leslie Lytle of Om Mama. She also loves teaching chair yoga to area seniors at area senior living facilities and various gyms in the area as well. Shannon continues to give back with her work in 2 non profit yoga organizations. The international non profit, Go Give Yoga, helps bring yoga teacher trainings to Haiti and the Appalachian mountains. It is here, in Appalachia where she co-led a children's yoga teacher training in the summer of 2015. She has worked with her local non profit, Project Yoga Richmond, where she serves as an ambassador teaching yoga in underserved areas for the past 5 years.
